i recently (couple of months) reinstalled windows vista on my asus
g1s laptop and now when i play programs or games that before i could run with ease i get strange lag waves it started a little bit after the install.
the whole system slows down and will run extremely laggy for about 5-15 minutes, then it will speed up and run normally for about 1-3 minutes, and then slow down again, i checked my resource moniter and it's only running at about 54% capacity peaking at 80%, i cant seem to find the source of this system lag i dont know if its a virus or a bad install if anyone could explain or let me know what i should do. reinstalling vista would be my last option since the manufacturer for some reason doesnt want to send me a copy of the laptop drivers

What task is chewing up your cycles during the slowdown?

That should give you some clues
