    hi guys,

before you go mad this is more a question about the ability of the box and image than about satellite.......

my question is this, if you capture a satellite signal using a standard dish and route it to your sXy box is there any way you could then take this signal and route it through another box with an image that could decode the signal? after all the cable channels we get are just captured from a satellite signal and sent down a cable right?

the reason i ask is that living in spain the only english speaking channels the poubs could get were via satellite and not cable.

    just a thought,

anyone out there can clear this up for me?

please use basic language. as you can probably tell from my question i know nothing about such things i am just trying to learn lol

    thanks a million

You cannot do what you suggest...

but can can use a slingbox this will allow you to watch your uk cable/sky/satellite in spain via high speed broadband. basically if you have broadband in spain and the uk you can watch any channel you have in the uk by attaching the sling boxes at both ends...

    hope this helps

Have you looked into FTA, Free to Air, satellite transmissions. This would require a FTA receiver and possibly a new LNB for your dish, if current LNB only supports circular polarization. You would be looking at maybe $200-300 for the basics without the capability of HD and DVR on the receiver. Don't know if this is what your were after but it might be worth looking into.

www.lyngsat.com - for a list of satellites that broadcast video unencrypted and there channels.

    Hi "H"

Thanks for the input but i already have fta set up.

I was really only trying to find out if it is possible to get more channels for free.

I guess the answer to that question is obviously a resounding no lol

    Cheers

    Mark ..

I'm on a motorized dish Mark, I'm getting thousands of channels free that have an English Audio option on it, I'll be watching Man U Live tonight via Canal + in Scandinavia.

Lots of Movies - Real xxx - Sports & Entertainment etc......

28 east (sky) wont open with any 3rd party software or cam...

I have a Diablo Cam - You should look into it.

Hi Mancred - motorised? My Sky dish compatible with what you're describing? I used to have Sky but disconnected and looking to set up either FTA or more. What box will Diablo cam fit into? Sorry, newbie looking for guidance!
    Cheers...
