I installed a new motherboard and cpu, I used my old hard drive with windows xp (32 bit). My computer will not run normally, only in safe mode. Could my problem be I'm running xp 32 bit with an athlon x2 64 or could it be something else? I have a 64 bit vista home premium i could install but I kinda want to stay with XP.
If you want to save your data you will need to get another HDD or back up all of your data using the old motherboard. You will also need to reinstall all your applications. The only way that you can recover from this is to reinstall the HDD onto your old motherboard and remove all proprietary drivers, then you MIGHT be able to run with the new motherboard. Sound like you are too far gone to do that. Your best bet now is to get a new HDD, install XP on the new HDD, then trnasfer what you can from the old HDD using an external enclosure or by using it as a slave drive.
I have everything important backed up on an external HDD, so really I just have to reinstall. No problem. Thanks
