I have searched the forum several times and did read the the stickies in this forum before posting this question.

Ok I am new to burning video files on dvd r's I have several video files that on my hard drive and have been trying for days to burn without luck. I have downloaded dvdsanta, convertxtodvd, nero startsmart and still have no luck. I start the converting process and it finished without issues but when I go to burn the actual file and insert my dvd r I get a few diff. messages. The most frequent one is to insert a writeable disc. Also one program tells me to insert a cdr. I am lost and don't know what to do.

Hate to say it, but sounds as if your burner is only a DVD player/CD burner, not a DVD/CD burner...

If internal to your PC and you're comfortable replacing, DVD drives are not all that expensive.. If not, you could also get an external USB burner..

Whatever program you're using to burn, post the log file from that program.

It would seem that you should get to know some computer basics before you attempt to do DVD's.

^^Typically those are regarded as substandard blank media. Use Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, or Sony.
