Hello can anyone help with my problem; my computer recognises some DVDs but not others. It just tells me that the drive is empty. thing is its not one or two DVDs that dont work, its quite a few and they have always worked previously... Also I'm using an external disc drive as my laptop's one is broken (if it makes any difference) and I'm using vista, can anyone please help??

I have the same problem and have never seen this before. This is with a legit dvd. My DVD ROM appears to be reading the DVD upon insert but once it finishes there is nothing there? is this some sort of piracy protection? it worked in a standalone fine. when i go to browse the dvdrom its empty and 4 different software players couldn't detect it.
