I have some large (1 to 4 gigs) mpg & mov files.
I want to cut out some parts and then eidt the cut parts together.
I've tried TMPGEnc & 321 Video Converter but they just freeze up.
Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

mpeg2cut will edit mpegs, it is a free mpeg editer that has frame accuracy and will save without reencoding.

avidemux will edit most mov and even avi. Nothing free or paid will beat this program.

If you don't mind spending money, videoredotvsuite is the best mpeg editor available. It has frame accuracy and will save without rencoding. Extremely easy to use.

videoredo and avidemux are the only video editers I use and are very reliable and rock solid. I use windows xp, so I'm not sure how these programs will work on vista.

These are only editers, they won't put transitions or titles etc.

If you want special effects etc, you can look at womble mpeg video wizard dvd.

I use TMPGenc 3.0 and 4.0 with 4GB files an have no problem. Remember that the larger the file, the more resources required to edit them.

This includes HDD space, CPU power, and RAM. Since you didn't state what you are using I can't tell if that might be the problem.

I can tell you from experience that an Athlon FX 3400+ with 2GB RAM will choke on a 4GB file. I upgraded to an Athlon X2 5600+ with 4GB of RAM and I can edit fine from my itnernal HDD, it's a little lazy with my USB 2.0 ext. HDD.
