    Hi all,

Having an odd problem with subtitles I'm hoping someone can help me with. I've been encoding Anime for a few years and have always used SubRip to rip subtitles and then play the resulting .srt along with the .avi file. This has always worked correctly in the past, but for some reason I'm having an awful time getting subtitles to work with my Bleach .avi's. I can rip them out of the IFO's fine, I can OCR them with SubRip fine and when playing the .avi's ALShow and VLC Player both report the subtitle file as being there, but I get no subs showing up on screen! Thought it might be a PC problem so tried burning one episode plus it's subs and playing on my Divx player, but still no joy.

Yes, the file names do match. ;-)

Anyone know what might be happening? I'm currently running Windows 7 beta (build 7000), but this was also happening when using XP Pro on the same laptop. Could it be a PC problem? Doesn't seem to happen with other subtitles though. Just these Bleach ones. I even tried using Xilisoft's Subtitle Ripper and playing the .avi with .sub and .idx files, but they didn't work either. :-/

Would really appreciate some advice on this if anyone's got any ideas! It's driving me nuts!

    Cheers,
    Ex.

Dunno know much about this, but you could try opening the .srt up in Subtitle Workshop or Subtitle Processor (or Aegisub or any other subtitle editing program) and checking for anything that would throw things off before re-saving the file.

It seems to have worked for other people before.

Ah, ran the subs through Subtitle Workshop and found that the timestamps are wrong! So, thanks for that info, I can get them all sorted now!

    Cheers,
