I have had no problems burning with my internal DVD burner until last week. I unplugged it to copy an internal hdd to my computer. SInce then my burner will not read discs. I went out and purchased another drive, and this one does read discs but DVD fab wont read the disc and neither will any of my other programs. I then plugged in my external burner and I have no problems what so ever. The new internal burner I am using works, it reads discs and burns music but for some reason the programs arent working with it. Please help!!!!

Don’t panic! Take couple of deep breath.
I may be able to help you to get help…

I read your post 5 times, though I’m still not quite sure about your situation.

Could you explain more details what works and what doesn't?

I assume your PC is Windows system. Vista?
What is your new drive? (Brand/type?)
Can you read CDs? By how? (program?)
Can you write data on CD-R?
Can you read DVDs? Play Movie?
    Can you write data?

I'm running XP service pack 2
    I have a Lite-on DH20A4P
I was able to burn a dvd and a music cd, but when I put in a disc windows shows what the disc is (in my computer) but when I try to play it using PowerDVD it, it gives me a disc error.

Either the disk you burned has a problem or your PowerDVD has a problem.
Can you watch the original DVD with PowerDVD?
Can you watch your burned DVD on stand-alone DVD player?

    That gives you the direction…

If your burned disk has a problem, post the detail how you burned your disc.

1.) Make sure the drivers for your dvd burner are updated and current.
2.) Make sure you have the most recent firmware for your new burner.
3.) Have you tried re-installing the software?
4.) What disc are you trying to get the burner to burn? Is the software up to date?

The firmaware and drivers are up to date, and I originally could not watch the original disc on powerdvd, but now I can. I have seemed to fix the original issue, but now I am having trouble burning music. The dvd's burn just fine and play fine on my house dvd player, but the music cd's will play in other people's cars, but will not play in my truck. So I just burned a music cd from my friend's computer and it plays just fine in my truck so I know its not a problem with my truck cd player. Tried to contact the manufacturer but they were no help.
