I recently built a new PC with the following specs:

    790i Ultra SLI mobo
    Intel Core 2 Q6700
    2GB OCZ DDR3 2000mhz memory
    2 x GeForce 8800 GS GPUs

and have been getting a black screen after I load the windows vista installation CD. I have pulled my memory to check if thats the issue as well as tried to install Windows XP pro and I replaced the HDD to no avail. Currend BIOS settings are on default so im not sure what the issue could be. Occasionally when I load the Windows XP disk after the setup files are installed the system will restart and instead of going to a blank black screen it will give me a "NTLDR is missing" error. Any advice?

Return your motherboard and get a different one. It sounds like that it is defective.

Motherboard should be fine, NTLDR means the OS is missing some necessary boot files, you can fix the the master boot record but I doubt that is your problem. Are your hd connected correctly?? Is your bios detecting the hard drive?? Is hard drive boot order set correctly??
