Ok - lets try this again. Apparently I commited the biggest sin by asking a ques a/b rent and burn & had my forum closed by a MOD. (although to my defense I didn't know this was a No-No on here) I am ready to burn my first DVD. It is downloaded and I can view it on my PC. I have a DVD-RW burner on my PC. I was told that IMGburn is a good software to use to burn -so I am going to download that. But is there anything else I need or will this IMGburn software do everything for me? I have visions of wasting 10 blank dvds before I find out how to do it correctly. How do I know if my DVD player will support the format it will be burned as? Sorry if my ques sound lame but a person has to start/learn somewhere - thanks for all your help.
First, find out if your dvd player plays dvd-r or dvd+r or both. Whichever it plays, get that kind of blank dvd. If it plays both, get either of them. You will need a few different pieces of software to do the rip/burn process properly. First, you will need to rip the movie from the original disc to your hard drive using software like Ripit4me or DvdFab HD decrypter. Ripit uses another program in the process called Dvd Decrypter. Once the movie is ripped to your hard drive, you can use another program called VOBblanker to "blank" out any unnecessary junk within the ripped files. Then, if you want to, use Dvd Shrink to eliminate any unwanted foreign languages or to "shrink" the files just enough to fit onto a single layer blank dvd. Don't shrink too much or you will lose video and audio quality, nothing below 85%. Last, you can use a program like Imgburn to burn the final result to dvd. I haven't used Imgburn for over a year now but when I did use it, it worked excellent! Hope this helps.
