Can some please explain briefly how one goes about ripping multiple subtiles from a DVD and then adding them to another DVD? I don't need a full tutorial (though that would be wonderful), just an outline of the steps and what programs are involved in the process.

I have a DVD with superior image quality that has only French subtitles, and another edition with bad image quality and subs in RUSSIAN, ENGLISH, FRENCH, GERMAN, SPANISH, ITALIAN, PORTUGUESE, DUTCH, SWEDISH, HEBREW, ARABIC, CHINESE, & JAPANESE. So I think it will be necessarly to also first remove the French subtitles from the good DVD before adding the subtitles from the other disc, but I don't know. Both discs are PAL.

I want to author the new disc so it can be burned and the subtitles then selected on the DVD player. Not sure if I then want to add buttons on a new menu screen or not. I've not done any kind of tasks like this before but am ready to learn.

It's easier if you don't need to keep the menu.

Demux the subpicture streams from the bad disk using the likes of Pgcdemux and save to a folder.

Demux all the streams (video, audio, and chapter information) from the destination disk, to a folder.

Copy the subs from the first folder to the second.

Mux the contents of the second folder to create a new DVD in a third folder using Muxman (note that on occasions, you have to delete the last line of the chapter information - it's a text file - else Muxman throws an error, complaining about the number of chapters).

Use Pgcedit to ensure that the new subs are "turned on".

Test using a media player and burn.
