I recently installed xp 64bit yesterday, but my laptop is 32 bit. I can't seem to get it to recognize my network. is it even possible to network between a 32bit and 64 bit machine.

XP32 Works fine with both XP64 and Vista64. The issue is probably in your net settings on the newly x64 machine. Dissable windows firewall on the x64 machine (and any other firewall; unplug your internet). On the laptop, goto run. type "\\[x64 IP] where [x64 IP] is the ip address of the x64 machine.

Did you turn on file/print sharing? (Right click on a folder or drive and select sharing and security) u should also be part of the same workgroup to make things easier (MSHOME)... then in any explorer window or browser type "\\x64ComputerName"
