Square Charactters In Windows Live Messenger

    Hello All,
    The problem is that when I use Windows Live Messenger, squares come up instead of the characters that are supposed to be there. I have tried installing all the updates and they haven't done anything. One thing that has failed on me is that I trying to install language packs. Whichever ones I download and install, they fail. I am using Windows Vista Ultimate with 3GB of RAM.

    try deleting messenger and reinstalling it.

    Tried that, doesn't work. Any other suggestions?
