    Hi...

I've got an issue with my HP DV9521tx that has stumped me...

I have my recovery disk but it wont let me get past the loading of setup file.

In the process of diagnosing it, I tried loading XP but eventually I had to replace the motherboard since the nvidia chip fried itself.

My thoughts are that the recovery disks are checking for the motherboard serial number or something in the bios and it stops the recovery process, thinking i'm a computer trying to copy the recovery info.

The F11 option at startup does not work...

A new recovery disk wouldn't help as it would be the same as the one I have now... Can anyone help? (as HP phone support is pathetic)

    Anything would be much appreciated.

    Regards,

    Nick.

the motherboard has the wrong identification you'll have to ask hp for a new tatoo

or google it I seem to remember we redid one once to see if we could

    Ok - tattoo the DMI.

I found heaps of references to do it with instructions and all.. I cant seem to find the applications to do it with though.

HP says its not under warranty so a password will be given to me.

I tried one which needs a password to access (had one from another site) but I was not allowed on the site at all.

Would you know of somewhere I could get these small apps from?

    Cheers for your help.
