    Hey all,
I have an old-ish laptop I'm looking to turn into, essentially, a jukebox. I've already gone through the tutorials about framing the laptop and wall mounting it and all that. Basically I want something that I can turn on, will start up quickly, will play music and let me look at the pretty colours (i.e. the visualizations) in full screen. What I'm asking you my fellow after-dawners (after-dawniates?), is what operating system should I use? XP or a variation of linux? And if anyone has any other suggestions regarding this I'd appreciate them.

    System Specs:
    Current OS: XP
    RAM: 256mb
    Processor: 2Ghz
    Graphics Card: 64mb integrated

    Thanks for your help!

I would think a Linux OS would be best with those specs but I don't know how well it currently runs so its up to you. If you want to keep windows you could reinstall or keep your current one and just add more RAM to get more speed out of it.

For Linux I use ubuntu because it has never let me down before and is completely compatible with my wireless card.
