I'm using Nero 6 Ultra with the latest updates.

I'm trying to recode some video files (VOB). approx. 20 minutes each, to Nero Digital so I can edit them. The Recode sequence appears to be working, but when the recoding is done the program has only recoded about the first 1 minute of the file. Settings all appear to be normal.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Not sure why that would happen. I would try to use nero Clean tool and re-install nero.

What is your end product? Why convert to Nero Digital and not other format, like AVI for example?

Thanks for the suggestion, but this *is* a clean install (with the upgrades) doing this.

But, since you mentioned it, I'll ask your advice: I didn't think to try and convert to AVI. In your opinion, what is the easiest format to do video editing? Is it AVI?

I'm trying to take some short scenes from various movies on DVD, edit them, add new dialog/music/sound effects, and then burn a compilation DVD (kinda like they did with "Kung Pow: Enter The Fist" a few years ago). I'm also going to edit in some clips that I did, to kind of tie everything together. It's a little 5 to 10 minute video for work, *if* I can get it all put together.

I know I'm working at a disadvantage by using Nero, but I can't afford one of the better editing programs right now, so I've got to work with what I've got (which is Nero 6, no less!!) :-)

Any suggestions appreciated!!

Since you have Nero, you can try Nero Vision to edit your compilation. Not sure if it accepts VOB or not.

Windos Movie maker is another choice. However, the VOBs would need to first be converted to an AVI,WMV or mpeg, so WMM can accept it. You can use VOB2mpg to convert your files before editing.

You can also convert to a different format using other free software like Any_Video_Converter:

For editing, you can also try VideoSpin ( free).

You can do what you say you want with NERO Rad17, just have to mash some buttons and put in a few hours learning curve.

It seems NV will accept VOB, so no conversion necessary. here's a guide to help you out( and shorten that learning curve that Deadrum is talking about:))

Cyprusrom,

THANKS!! I looked over that tutorial briefly, and it looks like exactly what I needed to get this project going!

The Nero manual doesn't go into that kind of detail, or tell you *why* you're doing certain procedures, like that tutorial does. Much easier to understand.

Thanks again....!!

You're welcome, although I did not write the guide :)! I'm just good friends with Google...! Good luck with your project.
Cheers!
