    Hi,
I have downloaded an avi file. When I tried to play it in my PC, there appeared a message as follows:-

"This video has been encrypted in order to view it u must visit www......(a certain web address)"

Is there any program that can enable me to view (and hear) that file
without going to the said web address)?

    Thanks in advance

    No. It's called DRM.

This is not true DRM where you typically get a license to
view the content. This is one of those bogus things where the website
asks you to install a special codec to view the content.
I would avoid it like the plague.

I agree. My guess is that this is a video file that probably hasn't aired yet. The codec installation probably contains a virus/trojan/malware.
