Update M3?

I used to download M3 games and it was always fine and all but now all of a sudden most of the games I download on to my M3 don't even work. I choose the new game and the whole thing freezes after it creates a new file. the closest I got from having it work was starting the game and watching it freeze from there. I tried restarting the game many times but it keeps freezing at the exact same point! All I can do now is play my old games.
I am wondering if my M3 needs to be updated or something. I bought it in the winter of 2007. Also, if you have any good game download websites then please give me some.

Hi! I have the latest firmware but I still cannot get GTA:CTWs to work. The game loads fine but when it asks me to make a save file and I click "YES" and pick an empty slot, the screen goes dark. Any suggestions?

I did everything with regards to the patch but it was not explained clearly and there were still issues.

thanks guys but does anybody know how to upload this firmware thing in to my M3? it's still the same...
