Why doesn't XP Pro like my DVD ROM drives? I have one installed on my work machine, and one installed on my home machine.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I have checked the BIOS. The drive has been tried as both Primary and Secondary master and slave. The copy's of XP are legitimate, and fully updated with no cracks or hacks. I just wanna watch a film. HELP

    Hiya,

Do you have a DVD Player application installed??
    PowerDVD, WinDVD etc..

Windows XP on its own WILL NOT play DVDs, it needs a DVD Player application for that.

If you already have an application installed, then we need more information to be able to help you.

    Have Fun...

Yeah i have playback software, my problem is that it is recognised as a cd drive and not a dvd drive. It also won't recognise any disc put into it.
