Why do I always have to keep pressing refresh?

Sorry if there's already a thread about this but I did a search and nothing relevant came up. So here's the problem, up until a few weeks ago my internet was fine, but recently I've noticed that almost every time I click a link the page will say could not connect, then I would have to press refresh to get it to work.

Now I'm not saying that this is a huge problem, but it is highly irritating. On a side note, the pc is connected by Ethernet to my router, and I have a laptop using the same connection, except the laptop is wireless and doesn't experience these refreshing issues.

    Any help would be appreciated.

These problems are usually related to security suites or antispyware software.

When I had webroot spyware sweeper installed, I had the exact same problem you described. At the time, I blamed my ISP service as being slow. When I removed spyware sweeper the problem went away.

Maybe your using a different security setup on your laptop that doesn't slow down the internet.

my setup now (simple but 100 percent effective)
    1.zonealarm firewall basic version
    2.avg 8.0 free antivirus
    3.firefox 3.0 browser
4.returnil virtual system (used when surfing the internet) this program seperates the hard drive from the internet, without slowing you down.

In my case I also have my computer sharing a router with 4 other computers on a wired LAN. I never encounter any slowdown.
