Hopfuly this will be my last ost on this topic. This is ment to be a big thank you to all who wrote back with helpful info. It is also a way for me to try to be helpful in return. The produced PLUS RW disc may or may not play on a dvd player. Mostly no with eceptions. Although a FINALIZED PLUS R disc cannot be un finalized, PHILIPS does provide a couple of tricks to make it more compatible woth players. Simply hold the # 2 button or the #3 button while the tray is open. HOLD the button until the disc begins to be read. Let go of the button. Let the reading complete and try the disc again. one or both tries MIGHT make the disc more compatible. Whether it helps or not the disc must be returned to it*s former format. This time hold the #1 button. The rest is the same. If you do not do this, the disc may not record at all. RW discs need not be FINALIZED< yet the compatibility persists. For my part there was ONE player that would now recognized the disc. After restore and another recording tha same player again would not read it. This is maddening to me. atleast my towers will read them without the need to use this trick. Whether tis will work for other brands or recorders I cannot tell you. For those who have this unit, you might want to keep this in mind. Thank you again for all your help. I feel like I contributated something which I cannot do often.
