Because I used CloneCD for my CD backups I never bothered to load the copy of Nero 5.5 that came with the upgraded CDRW that I installed a couple of years ago. Even though DVD X copy Platinum has work fine for me, for my DVD backups, I was thinking of giving the Nero/shrink combination a try. Post here all talk about Nero 6.X. So my question is will 5.5 work? Also, what does 6.X have or do that 5.5 does not/

    Thanks...

I've used the Nero 5.5/Shrink combo quite successfully so unless you have a pressing need for all the fancy extras in Nero 6 I don't see a reason to upgrade. The big addition to Nero 6 is Recode 2 which is very similar to DVD Shrink. Nero just put out an update to 5.5 which is 5.5.10.56.

If Nero 6 plays nice on your rig (try the demo) as it does for me you will find it to be very nice all around program. Although you will need a ripper, Recode 2 produces the same quality as Shrink but is more versatile. I'm also more than pleased with Nero Express for coverting/combining various vid files.
