    Hi Everyone,
I used to have Quicktime installed on my computer. I had problems with it so I installed Quicktime Alternative. Yesterday I received a update notice about Quicktime Alternative. I haven't updated yet because I couldn't think of any times I used the Quicktime Alternative player. I have it on my computer because I thought it may be needed to play videos embedded into web-pages. But I don't remember the Quicktime Alternative player actually playing video on a web-page , unless it did so in the background.
I have Nero ShowTime configured to play any QuickTime videos (.mov) on my computer , but I don't believe Nero ShowTime will play embedded videos on a web-page.
So my question is could have Quicktime Alternative player have been playing web-page videos , in a background mode of sorts ? Which is leads to another question , is it necessary to have any QuickTime players installed at all?
    Thanks.

I've used the K-Lite mega codec pack for years, within it is support for .mov files, and i don't use Nero Showtime nor Quicktime
