first and foremost i strongly apologize if this is in the wrong forum section!

hows it going? i just installed windows XP home edition on my PC everything runs fine but i have no internet. i am also dual booting with Linux but, when im on linux i have a internet connection and i am able to get onto the internet. with windows it doesn't find any connection and i am not able to connect.

when i search for my IP address it doesn't show up, i checked my modem and router and it shows that my ethernet cable is hooked up. is there anything that i can do to connect to the internet on the windows OS? do i need to contact my ISP? help would be so greatly appreciated...thanks in advance!!

Have you checked the configuration of your NIC (Network Interface Card) in Windows?

The instances of the NIC are independent of the OC and installing on one doesn't "make it happen automagically" on the other.

This looks to be a simple "configure your NIC and network connection" issue.

You should start by going into Device Manager and ensure that your NIC is properly detected and the driver is properly installed/loaded (i.e. no Yellow question marks).

Then ensure that your TCP/IP access is setup correctly. This step can be done with the "add a network connection" wizard.
