Hello Guys, Just need some advice really.. I have a Dell 630i computer and I have installed Vista 64Bit on the C: drive and I have 4 x 2TB RAM installed.. which amounts to 8GB in total.. Now the C: drive is partitioned into 2 (250GB) and (450)GB .. I already have Vista 64BIT and I was wondering if I could install XP 32Bit on the partitioned part of the drive? I have tried this but after the xp cd reads the initial setup part I get "the blue screen of death error screen".. and I am only assuming this may be because I am: 1 - trying this with a 64Bit OS system (vista) already installed on the other part of the partition or 2 - 8GB is far too much and the pc conflicts because of this? please can you advise.. many thanks
The space would need to be unpartitioned. Vista has a built in partitioner, try using it to create a partition (with no filesystem). You should be able to install XP on it.
There are lots of issues with tryting to get these two to work together, but 8GB memory or lack of free space would not cause a BSOD. More likely, it has something to do with a recovery partition that dell put on the hard drive. Try Microsoft Virtual Machine if you need to run something that will not run on Vista64 - no reboot needed!
