Hey Guys, been a windows pc user all my life untill last christmas when i got a laptop. Loved it, but about 3 months ago it broke, display, battery everything, so ive given up. I need a laptop for my college studies and work, all i will use it for is word processing, internet browsing, occasional music and film downloading but i have my ipod for media. Been looking on ebay for a little Apple iBook g3/g4, and wanted everyone's oppinion on this? will it cover my basic needs? Ive looked and they are about 200GBP for a neat second hand one which is all i need (financial difficulties, who hasnt lol). Any advice is appreciated, thanks !
My iBook G3 is still kickin! For word processing and internet browsing it works just fine... The only gripe I have about my is it is still running panther, which is nothing compared to leopard or tiger. The only thing you might notice is that Flash sites like YouTube or hulu can crash safari or firefox randomly. I even tried a reinstall of panther but it was a no go.... If possible I would defiantly go for an iBook G4 just to get Tiger. It is a much better OS overall. ~Domreis
Thanks for the reply mate, i think im gonna do it. I need a laptop and ive allways wanted an apple, and the pure fact that they are so reliable from the sources ive heard from is making me want one even more. I ean the G3 is like 5-6 years old and still going strong, thats magic. Would you say about 200GBP for a G4 with about 1ghz nd 512mb ram is a good price ?
