    Hey guys,
I have this old Patriot PC that i used to use and have decided to get it up and running! i used to listen to music on it but now there is no sound! I have tried dxdiag and that gives me this message:

DirectSound test results: Failure at step 3 (DirectSoundCreate): HRESULT = 0x8878000a (The request failed because DirectSound resources, such as the priority level, were already in use by another caller.)

And when i try to play a system sound... i.e Asterix, it says my sound card is in use!

this is some of my system info.

    Computer Brand Name: dixonsxp

    Motherboard
    Motherboard Model: MSI MS-6533
    Motherboard Chipset: SiS 650 + 85C503/5513/961
    Motherboard Slots: 3xPCI, 1xAGP v2.0

    BIOS
BIOS Manufacturer: Award Modular BIOS v6.00PG
    BIOS Date: 04/09/02
    Chip: Winbond/Nuvoton W83697HF
Trusted Platform Module (TPM) Chip: Not Found

Can someone pls save me by letting me know what i can do or download or even install???

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    hey,

Ok the ones with yellow exclamations next to them are:
'Microsoft kernel GS wavetable synthesizer' and
'Multimedia audio controller'. Hope that helps you in helping me.

    thanks

use the cd that came with the pc to load the soundcard driver which is not installed which is why you have yellow exclamation marks.
