I have slow internet. I wanted some collegehumor podcasts. So i gave my flash drive to a buddy of mine and copied some podcasts he already had. i copied them to my ipod and eject my ipod. I go to watch the podcasts and i notice that it says no music. which was wierd because i know i had 6000+ songs. i reset my ipod by holding down menu and select and it didnt fix it. so i plugged my ipod up to my computer to see if i would get an error message. it said that my ipod needed restored.

Does anyone know why this happened?

BTW my ipod is an 80gb classic

The $64 dollar question is how did you perform the copy? I assume you did not copy the files to your computer then imported them into itunes then synced them to your ipod like you should.

ipods have multiple layers of security. If you add something without using itunes it will 'blow away' your music if you normally use itunes. I haven't used itunes for years just for that reason. I have heard of it blowing away your music if it thinks you copied music from your ipod.
