    Hi

I have one Win2K computer which plays back fine. I have a second that doesn't. I've tried to install the same codecs on both, but have apparently failed.

On the one that works, Gspot tells me that it uses a VP6 decompressor (vp6dec.ax), MEDIASUBTYPE_YUY2 and the video renderer (quartz.dll).

On the one that fails, Gspot tells me that it uses ffdshow (ffdshow.ax), MEDIASUBTYPE_RGB32, and again as the video renderer, quartz.

Any ideas what I failed to install on the computer that fails to play?

I find it interesting that Gspot will tell me the file renders correctly, but still fails to play--when I press the (2) button, it gives me the test screen but it's just all black.

I got a clue from a friend and found the answer: the splitter is found somewhere inside the DivXtotalpack.zip which I have as version 2.0, dated 11/30/2004. After installing this, everything seems fine.
