Hi everyone, I recently bought a 2GB ram memory stick for my hp dv6226us notebook. I already have 1GB ram installed in it, but it is 2 512MB sticks. The new memory stick I purchased is one 2GB stick. Will there be a problem if I remove the other two original sticks and replace it with the one I just purchased? Can I also add one of the 512MB sticks as well since there still will be an extra slot available. Thanks for the help!
Sorry, I forgot to include that its DDR2 SDRAM. Here is a link of the specs of the notebook I have: http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/hp-pavilion-dv6226us-core/4507-3121_7-32327814.html?tag=mncol;psum
If you can tell us what RAM (specs (ie. Speed)), that'd be wonderful! http://www.edgetechcorp.com/memory/upgrade.asp?cid=31682 On the link above, it stated that the maximum memory capacity of your laptop was 2GBs. If indeed, you have bought one 2GB stick, the 2 other half gigs wouldn't be needed. Ofc, you can always stick it in there, just to see if it gets recognized (for the fun of it). But according to the website, I highly doubt it. Heads up: If the RAM isn't PC2-5300 (DDR2-667), then there is a chance that it will not work in conjunction with the system. Enjoy!
Standard Configuration for HP Pavilion dv6226us Maximum RAM: 2GB Standard RAM: 512MB/1GB Fixed RAM: 0MB Speed of RAM: PC2-5300 # Banks: 2 # Sockets: 2 Chipset: Intel 945GM 2gb is the max ram your computer will support. So just throw the ram in one socket and you should be set. You may also want to upgrade your bios while installing the new memory. *edit sorry got sidetracked while i was replying and hit the reply button almost 3 hours after i typed the response LOL
