don't waste your time with M$.. you need to run active@killdisk on the hdd to remove all traces of the previous installation... your ram could be duff too.

1)New RAM fails, good RAM fails. So do new hard drives.
IMHO, it's probably not RAM but is IS possible.

    2)You didn't provide enough information .
0x00000007 is a software STOP error. What module did it STOP in?
In otherwords, what is the WHOLE error message.

3)If it stopping in a different module every time, it is quite possible that your RAM is bad.

Thanks for trying to help mate.. I am a computer engineer and I know alot about RAM, HDD and all the rest of it.. its definitely no RAM or the HDD.. this may be a problem in Bios or something that DELL has placed something somewhere so that no OS can be installed prior to Vista as this is Vista Machine..

The error message (Blue Screen) comes always after you boot from the XP cd and after all the files have been loaded just before the inital screen where you choose the partition to install XP on..

    Thanks

Possible, but IMHO unlikely otherwise I'm sure there'd be plenty of screaming on this and other forums.

Besides, the specs for the XPS 630 show this as one of the options:

Genuine Windows Vista® Business with Downgrade Rights Service to Windows® XP Professional

Like I said, 0x00000007 is a software STOP.

If the 0x00000007 STOP error didn't indicate a module name, then it would require a peek into the Windows XP install sequence to see what loads next after the base files.
