    Thanks for any help!
I have an older computer and need to find a way to convert a m2ts file from a AVCHD camcorder into files I can use to make a DVD.

Can you suggest a way to convert from m2ts to a file I can use in a DVD producer software such as womble video wizard? I have no idea what format is best for good quality and can play on most DVD machines or computers.

Can you suggest a production software that can take the raw m2ts files and make a standard dvd?

    Any help is appreciated!!

Pinnacle Studio 12 is the program I use.
I haven't tried making a DVD out of the .m2ts I usually convert into DivX, but I think the DVD option is there.

My computer is not smoking fast and if planning on working with M2ts files you need a fast computer. I thus decided to wait a couple years before going this route when I plan on upgrading my computer. I am thus just storing my M2ts files for now.

At present I am still making regular DVDs as most people have a dvd player and few can play a blue ray properly on your computer due to processing/memory requirements.

To make regular DVDs I found is best to convert the M2ts files to MPEG2 with the installed Sony Picture Motion Browser software though convertx or other conversion programs work as well. This retains the original m2ts file but creates a MPEG2 file that later can be quickly edited for production of DVDs and used in standard DVD players. I choose to use the high quality option when converting.

These MPEG2 files are easy to play on your computer or edit with the many dvd editing software programs out there. You can use Pinnacle studio 12, Cyberlink PowerDirector or Sony Vegas among others. I choose to use a small program called Womble MPEG Video Wizard DVD.
Why? Is is so easy to learn and fast to use plus it does everything from taking the raw MPEG file to editing to burning the DVD. I learned how to use the majority of the program and made a fairly decent DVD in a 3 hours. Next one will take much less time depending on amount of editing....

The resulting dvds are in standard format and show up as vob in the video folder. Works great for now. If you have hours to learn software and want more editing capabilities than the other programs are likely for you.

In a couple years once I upgrade my machine I likely will get a ton of ram and then start making the full HD Bluerays but I can wait for cheaper prices for everything for now as most people do not have a blue ray machine or worse yet their computers are not fast enough to properly play a blue ray dvd.

That is my plan but I am a newb...
