Ok every few weeks or even every week I turn on the PC and Windows just takes forever to come on and then when it does it's slow and I mean super slow. Right now when I turned it on, it booted and it stayed on a black screen for minutes until Windows finally came on. Now it's just super slow. The hard drive sounds like it's working hard. It also takes forever to open applications. Even now if I went to minimize the browser window it'll take a few seconds to react from the time I click and the time it actually minimizes. The problem seems to go away after a few hours of though which is a pain in the ass. I've run multiple antivirus programs and it never finds anything. I just want to know if anyone has any idea of what might be happening? If it's a virus, it doesn't seem like any program can detect it and I've tried around 5 different ones already. I should say that even to turn off the computer it would take around 5 minutes from when I hit the Shut Down button.
Reformat would cure that problem. Maybe to many programs on the computer or it is possible you got a virus. Conflicker Worm maybe, not sure if it's doing anything yet.
I don't think so becase it's been having problems for a while. But can't a good antivirus cure this? I don't really want to reformat.
download and run ccleaner.. clean the regrestry goto start menu type msconfig and uncheck programs thar are booting up that you dont need.. use aislogics disk defrag its free run that as well should speed your computer up a lot then update and run antivirese and spyware to check for something on your comp as well
I've done all that stuff. I reformatted and now it's doing the same god damn thing again. Does anyone know if this is a normal Windows process?
well anymore a good virus first disables your antivirus from detecting it then begins its work on your pc. then if you update your virus protection its to late the virus has already protected itself you would have to remove your virus software and reinstall it with the proper updates on its first run or identify it and find another program to remove it however if you reformatted your pc installed up to date reliable antivirus software and scanned all hard drive backups before recopying them to the hard drive and you still have the same problems then it is more than likely a hardware problem. i guess you could have a super complex infection that could live in your ram survive the reformat and reimplment during a reinstall and survive the new up to date antivirus disable it and start all over but thats highly unlikley lol hope that technology isn't to readily avaliable.
Sorry I am late responding, I have a slowdown problem with a malicious software removal tool that uses an enormous amount of processing. I have to cancel when it comes up. I didnt load it and it does not have a removal/uninstall facility
Sounds familiar.. u_u. Check event log from Control Panel, see if there are massive amount of errors. If so, what are the error messages ? If you're unlucky, ( Or lucky depends how you see it.. ) it's HD problem. HD's are cheap, but if it's something else then...
