Hi Please forgive me as i am not as clever as i should be with the Dbox2 I have a Sagem DBox 2, I have the NetID key for Stockport, as that is where i live, but is that relevant? I found it on the forum Please can anybody provide me with the correct services.xml file for stockport, so i can upload via ftp Also i have been reading about the rom 7 fix, and was just wanting some clarification. Am i correct in saying that i do not need to enter keys if i add the rom 7 via ftp. or do i? Also please can anybody provide me with the file or a link for rom7? Thanks for anybodys help. If this makes me look confused, please can you put me on the right level. Mark
Al you say is true mate If you do a location scan it will generate an up to date service file for you Rom 7 fix is neededfrom November 08 After that no longer need to manual update Wot image you running Rom7 ftp to var/keys overwrite the existing ..................Paul
Hi Paul, thanks for your response. Last night i flashed commando x1 v10 to the dbox 2 because there was 1 intel chip in the box. After the box had completed the flash, i put the ariel into the back and did a scan, so the system would generate an uptodate services file for me. However no transponders were found in the search and the services.xml file was bytes. No channels were found (error, no channels available) Therefore the next thing i did was test the signal on a few channels and the SNR = 64-64500 BER = 4 SIG = 195 Bit rate = 0 I read the minimum SNR is 55000, so am i still ok. Does this mean the splitter is ok and that i shouldnt need a booster. Anyway next thing i did was, i copied the nrom7 fix in to the Var/Keys via XP FTP, and i copied the services.xml file for stockport (posted by another member of a forum in Feb this year). This file was 24kb, and copied the relevant bouquet.xml file. Now when i restart the sagem dbox i have channels with "waiting for time",error, channel not available. I was wondering if the direction of the problem may lead to the image, or is the SNR still too low. The snr was 64000 connected to the spitter as well as having the splitter removed. Sorry if this is long winded, i'm not sure if its the signal or the image. Thanks for your help again yesterday Mark
You need to do a location scan via the Blue button Commando menu Set my location Scroll to your area and press ok The box will re boot and be ready for scanning .................Paul Did you transfer to var/tuxbox/config zappit
Hi Firstly thanks very much for the image. I flashed the dbox with the image you gave me and i performed a "set my location", rebooted, then performed the scan. I received the message "transponder failed". So i tried a "complete" scan. the message i got was "no channels found", no transponders. The signals were below when plugging the feed in. ber = 3873 snr = 30368 sig = 61840 i know the snr is lower than 55000, but ten minutes before the scan i tested the signal and on bbc1 the signal was 63-64000 I bought a signal booster, because i read the forums, but please can you advise how the booster will help me? will it pull the signal up. I have no channels when plugging the dbox directly into the live feed with no splitter. do i need something else, like a 2 way f splitter http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=29530 or will this not make a difference. I dont even know if i have a faulty dbox, because you have sent me a working image. Do you have any advise i could try, i am trying, I do have an active broadband line and i am looking to split. Thanks again Mark
REFRESH So you plug your cable connection into the D Box Not the Aril cable Is the Cable feed active for,Broadband and , or cable TV feed If it is and you do a location scan And dont get FTA channels Your Tuner may be Goosed Lets Know the next step is to attach a null and run bootmanager and let the lads see the Result
I used the image you gave me and tried a service scan, i got "transponder failed" I tried the commando 10 image and did a service scan, found 303 transponders and 300 channels. However the SNR was only 30000 with a booster, and connected directly to the main feed. (no splitter), got "channel not available" Therefore i copied the services and bouquet off that image onto the image you gave me (by FTP) and reflashed your image Then i rebooted the dbox, and all my channels were there, I dont have any channels working (channel not available) but the following frequencys were on the channels BER - 60 SNR - 64000 - 65000 SIG - 30326 (These results are with a booster connected to the main feed I leave the box for an hour, but nothing. So, i have the correct services file based on the scan on another image i have a working image from yourself i have a SNR above 55000 When i unplug the coax from the box, SIG = 0 and the SNR = 13000 Then i plug the cable back in and SNR goes back to 64000. Does this mean the tuner is ok. I only have the broadband line at the moment, i dont have virgin tv. Does this matter with a sagem dbox. Will virgin tv have stronger signal Please can you advise if i need to try anything. Thanks Mark
All the sigs are good mate You should be getting free channels at least Cant you copy full image from one box to the other or are they differant chip types .......Paul
Hi Paul I only have one box, will it make a difference if i have virgin tv installed, to increase the signal?
Hi mate I am in Stockport Wish i had another box to compare and contrast Thanks for all your help and advice Mark
