I have a Dell Dimension 4700c and every now and then it makes this ticking sound and this blue screen comes up and says...

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. A process or thread crucial to system operation has unexpectedly exited or been terminated.

    Why does this happen.

    Thanks

moved to correct forum as not a news issue. sounds like the hard drive is ready to die so safe your data & maybe get a new hard drive.

Before you condem the drive, make sure the connections are clean & tight.
