I'm trying to copy something from my computer to a usb of mine. However, the writing speed is only going at 0 bytes/second, which means that it will never finish. I've tried reinserting the usb plenty of times, and this just keeps happening. Any ideas?
A USB what?? Memory stick, Hard drive? Can you do a dir on the device? Have you tried another USB port? Can you write to any other devices on that USB port? Sounds like your USB port or the device are defective.
sry, its a usb flash drive. I'm copying something from my computer to my usb flash drive through the usb port. To be more specific, i am putting a micro sd card into a sd card adapter, then putting that into the usb device thing which basically makes it a usb flash drive. Anyways, i don't know what could be wrong because i have tried different micro sd's with different sd card adapters with different usb adapter thing on different ports on my computer. So ya, i have tried different combos of it all. I can either transfer the files at only 0 bytes/second OR i can't transfer at all because the usb sometimes seems to think the sd cards are locked all the time when they aren't. So ya, i'm totally stumped here.
Well, the next question would be: Through trial and error, changing only one component at a time, have you isolated a pairing of the card reader and microSD or a pairing of the card reader and the USB port that do not work? I have seen instances where certain microSD cards just will not work with a given adapter but will with others. I suspect that this is the issue, but then again, I have never seen the adapter and microSD recognized but not transfer. Either it works from the get-go ot not at all.
ya, ok, i just checked every possible combination of the micro sd, sd card adapter and usb adapter, none of it worked. It was all recognized (except for one of the usb adapters) but then transferring became a problem.
Have you tried a "real" flash drive? Have you tried a USB hard drive? transflash card + reader =/= flash drive.
