Before I was burning and watching all my movies just fine. For some reason, now I can only watch the movies I burn on the burner itself. They aren't being recognized on any regular player or on my Xbox 360. The most recent movies I've had this issue with are Max Payne and Resident Evil Degeneration. This has never happened before, and I really don't know what to do. My burner is an HP DVD1040 and I'm using DVDShrink 3.2 for compression and Nero 6 Ultra for the burning. The discs I'm using are Memorex DVD-R. Also using AnyDVD 6.3.03. Thanks for any help.

Memorex disc's are likely the problem, not very good. Try burning at half the rated speed (any disc) and use better quality media, Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim (made in Taiwan, don't know about India), any Made in Japan. You might want to look at ImgBurn (free and easy and probably the best burner out there) for burning.

I agree with mistycat also. You never said the speed you burn at. I burn all of my disks at 6x to 8x speed.

Usually I burn at 8x. And I've always used Memorex and never seen a problem. However, I did notice that the problem started when I began using a new spindle of Memorex discs that had receieved a re-design of the disc itself. I'll try to get a new spindle and give it another shot, and hopefully that works. Thanks.

One other thing to keep in mind with poorer quality media is that they can be fine now but not play in a year or so.
