Legend of Dragoon+Slim Silver PS2 problem

Has anyone had any problems with Legend of Dragoon on a slim satin silver ps2? Sometimes on battlefields, while changing areas, the screen will go black and act like it froze. I can still hear the sound effects from going into the menu and such but that's about it.

(I have a SCPH 77001, for the record)

Never mind, it's connected to the usual freezing of LoD on slim ps2's. I was under the impression that it was only during certain area's in the game (lenus battle, etc) But sporadic freezing when changing area's is also a common problem. I did try changing the psx settings on the ps2 (smooth textures and fast disc speed) and haven't had anymore problems after another 4 hours of gameplay. Could be coincidence, I dunno.
