I started off with a Avi. Vid and it was frustrating to burn the Avi file to a disc. So i now use "WinAVi Video Converter" and this alows me to convert the Avi file to several formats but the most popular are: DVD ( what i have been using) VCD MPEG2 Once the file was Dvd format i have been buring the file to a Dvd Disk using Dvd Shrink. The conversion an buring proses take aprox.. 1:30-2howers I just wounder if they is a better format to use and a better softwere to burn with?
To convert your .avi to DVD, you can use DVDFlick or AVStoDVD, both are free. For burning I wouldn't recommend anything but ImgBurn.

Depending on your system and if there are subtitles, it can take up to the length of the movie to convert. Burning at 8x with imgburn should take up to 10 minutes.
If you're asking which would be easier to burn, an iso image or a video_ts folder, it's up to you. It may take a few extra minutes to create an iso image, but that's the only difference I can see.
well i think il stick to converting it to DVD as i already have done so. What softwere would u recomend to burn the Dvd File to the Dvd Disk with?
il use that then and seems as though i have been told they is no real diffrenct between i iso file and Dvd when burning i will convert my Avi file to dvd files and burn it with Imgburn. Just about to test it out noww....
I've converted about 80% of my files with dvd flick, and the remainder with avi2dvd.....but that program is very picky about which files it will convert.
i was going to use Dvd Flick but i heard it can take some time for the conversion?.. and i prefer as fast prosess as posible The only problem with my way is quality is lost do you rekon its my converter? How long it take to convert with Avi2Dvd please?
Stick with dvd flick. Avi2Dvd can take up to 5hrs....well, I use the HC Encoder and a double pass, and it takes close to 5hrs to do a 2 hour film....and that's IF I can get it to process the film. I choose the "below normal" setting on the process priority, and the only quality loss I can notice is if the screen is completely black, then I can see a few lines and some pixelation, but other than that, not much, if any at all.

If you're looking for some feedback on the time,that's cool,I guess, To view an AVI on my TV it takes me about 2 minutes.
The days I used to convert and burn to DVD are over. I play them directly on XBMC, no more time or money for discs spent. Now I convert from DVD to AVI to save space. XBOX.
