External HDD Not Detected

    Hi,

    I have searched for it but i coulnd find the answer of MY problem.

    I have an external HDD and when i try to connect it with my laptop it doesnt show up at all not even "not reconizing" just nothing.

    The thing is sometimes it does get detected and sometimes it doenst and its really anoying. I have to take out the usb and put it back in for several times before my laptop detect it but now it just will not detect it at all.

    Please help me,

    P.S. sorry for my bad gramma I am from Holland ;)

    when i wanted to connect it just now it said cannot install IDE-USB2.0 Bridge

    does anybody know how to fix this?

    does it do the same thing on another pc? when the drive is not connected, is there an exclamation mark in device manager?

    First off all thanks for your reply

    i havent tried it on a other computer but yes it does get an "?" mark
    if that is what you ment

    so the exclamation mark is there even when drive is not connected, correct?

    thanks for helping me really thank you but i think the ex.hdd is just broken inside becaus my WII doesnt reconize it neither but like my laptop it reconizes sometimes its an veryu old hdd and it was the ex hdd from my brother who said that the thing was broken but itworked the first few times but man thanks anyway am just going to get a new one Thanks anyway

    make certain it is the drive itself is at fault & not the drive enclosure.

    i have to tell you i dont know what you mean "the drive enclosure'?

    the drive is working again right now :S i really dont know what the problem is :S
