Hi, Whenever I am trying to play an IFO file with CyberLink PowerDVD 9, whether by double-clicking on such file or by right-clicking on it, there appeares a message "No disc in drive J:" After clicking on OK, there appeares the PowerDVD Player, however, when I click on the play-arrow or I right-click on the player and select "Play", there appears again the same message. I should add that I have no such problem with playing VOB files with the above mentioned player. Thanks in advance for any help to solve that problem stibi
Hi dialysis1 and thanks for your prompt response. Yes, I have the VOB files, however, as I wrote, I have no problems with playing them with CyberLink PowerDVD (I have also BUP files). stibi
I missed that. Was very tired last night. To see if your files are DVD compliant, open your files with DVD Shrink.
Hi dialysis1 and many thanks for trying to help me, Ever since I got your response, I kept trying to download DVD Shrink, however, whichever installation file I have downloaded, turned out to be corrupted. So I gave up. As to my PowerDVD player, it seems there was something wrong with it, because it couldn't play even IFO files of DVD movies ripped to my hard disk from original DVDs (it played VOB files, however, as you probabely know, to select the desired subtititles one should play the IFO file). Hence, I have uninstalled the PowerDVD player, checked that nothing of it was left on my hard didk (even not in the registry), however a while after I started to install it (namely, the PowerDVD player), there appeared a message that there is already a PowerDVD installed on my PC, asking whether I want to remove it. I selected OK, however after a while there appeared a message that the files where not found. SO, I gave up and installed another DVD player - named DVD X Player. It doesn't play IFO files, however - unlike with PowerDVD - it enables to select the desired subtitles from the VOB after I start to play it. Any suggestion? Thanks
Sounds like you have some real issues with your system. When was the last time you cleaned and tuned up your system and what programs do you use? Where are you downloading DVD Shrink from?

I have tried first from AfterDawn forum, however, after downloading of the zip file, when I wanted to open it with winrar,there appeared a message: "The archive is either in unknown format or damaged". So I downloaded DVD Shrink again, from 2 diferrent sources (of the web), however the results were the same. I thought something is wrong with my winrar, hence have downloaded the trial version of Winzip and tried to open with it the zipped DVD Shrink. The message I have got :"Cannot open file: it does not appear to be a valid archive". As to your question: "When was the last time you cleaned and tuned up your system and what programs do you use?": First I have uninstalled the CyberLink PowerDVD, next I used the "Tuneup utilities 2009" registry cleaner, made a "search" in my hard disk and deleted some small left files I found (like prefetches), searched the registry and deleted each and every reference to CyberLink and PowerDVD I found there. Only then I ave tried to reinstall CyberLink PowerDVD, however, as I wrote you, during the installation process there appeared the message that there is already a PowerDVD installed on my PC. At this stage I gave up the idea of installing CyberLink PowerDVD and, instead,I installed DVD X Player (I believe as a result of the last mentioned try to install CyberLink PowerDVD there must be some "leftowers" of it in my PC; however, so far, I didn't take the trouble to delete them). Hi dialysis1 and many thanks, One wouldn't believe it:- 1)After I my last message to you, I decided anyway to clear the registry from the "left-owers" of Cyberlink PowerDVD and to ty again to install Cyberlink PowerDVD. To my surprise this time I succeded to finish the installation. However, it didn't solve the problem: The Cyberlink PowerDVD plays the Vob files, but not the IFO files. So I am unable to choose the subtitles. 2)I have downloaded the DVD Shrink from the website recommended by you, however, this time too, when I tried to unzip the downloaded zip file I've got a message from Winzip, that this file doesn't to appear to be a valid archive. 3)The Classic Media Player indeed plays IFO files, however in that player the word subtitles appeares in "pale"-gray colour; so one cant select subtitles. However, I have some good news too: Suddenly, it occured to me trying to play the IFO files with my Windows Media Player (version 12)and it not only played all the IFO files, but from this players "Run" menu I could select subtitles in all the DVD I have on my hard disk. The only, obstacle there is that after selecting the desired subtitles one must slightly click (once) on the begining of the progress-bar of the player. True, a movie played with CyberLink PowerDVD looks prettier, however, as I mentioned, for some reason whenever I want to play with it an IFO file of any DVD, there appeaes the message "No disc in drive J:" . This didn't happen in the past (with an earlier version of that player - I don't remember which one was it). So, I think that in order make sure that the DVDs the Ifo files of which PowerDVD doesn't play are "real" DVDs, I don't need the DVD Shrink, though I would like to have that program if I could find wher to download it from. Thanks a lot for your adwise to download, install and run the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware. I did it, and found 6 Troyan items (some of them in the registry) which my Kasparsky didn't find (naturally, I deleted the said files). The picture explains it. You can direct PowerDVD to open a folder. From there, it should play just like the original like playing the trailers and going to the menu.

Tried re-downloading DVD Shrink and had no problem with the file from here (Afterdawn), but wasn't able to download anything from the link dialysis1 posted.. If you'd like to try another zip program, I'd like to recommend Ultimate Zip... I've been using for several years and have both the 2007 and the newer version installed.. What I like best about it is being able to just right click on a zip file and unzip it in place (or specify a different location) without ever having to actually open the program... If I remember correctly, WinZip always opened and if you were past your initial trial, you had to wait for the interface to count down before it would open and actually let you unzip a file. I kept the older version installed as it had an option in the "right click" menu that seemed to be missing in the newer one. right click menu shows: Extract to.... (any folder or location you want)(I think this was the option missing from the newer version) Extract to here (folder you're currently in) Extract to folder C:\.... Hi dialysis1 and Joleca and thanks, That's really strange: I have downloaded and installed both: Ultimate Zip 4 and ZipGenius 6, and I have downloaded DVD Shrink from Afterdawn Forums. I tried to open it with Ultimate Zip, but it found there is a Header error. Next I tried to open it with ZipGenious and it found tha it's an invalid archive.I should add, that in Afterdawn Forums there are 2 sources for downloading that file, and I downloaded from each of them, however the results were the same. I also downloaded the file from the site suggested by you, dialysis1 (namely Softpedia), however both of the above mentioned programs reported it's an invalid archive. Incidently, I scanned again my Hard disk with Malware Bytes and it found no trojans or similar thinks.
