Hey, I'm new to afterdawn so sorry in advance if this question has been addressed or is in the wrong place.

I recenly bought a new 46" Samsung LCD HD tv, and with it I got a blue ray player. I have a number of ripped dvd's (ripped with dvdfab decriptor & shrink), and when I play them in my blue ray player, the picture is a little fuzzy -- and its not as sharp as I would like.

So my question is: Is there a way to get my ripped dvds to play in HD or get a picture close to that of playing a blue ray disc, using my blue ray player? (I use Sony dvd-r discs when ripping).

Or should I get an hd dvd player? Or am I getting greedy to expect that quality of a picure from my ripped dvds? -- thanks

Depends on the backups you ripped. Did you use dual layered for larger movies? Have you tried connecting your old DVD player to see if it has better quality.

I had a Samsung upconverting 1080p DVD player and a Harmon/Kardon DVD48 1080p player. Both have lower quality the the PS3 at playing DVDs.

The bigger the TV the lower looking the quality for DVDs, Get Blu-ray movies or Mkv rips if you want sharper quality :)
