Sony's doing some advertising on this, and this HDTV is quite pricy. Just wondering if 200Hz is really necessary now. Maybe you might notice the difference between 60 and 100hz. But would you from 100 to 200hz? Does 200Hz theoretically mean that it can display 200 frames per second? What actually has anywhere near that many frames?
It is actually 240hz and 120hz. You will definitely notice a difference between the 60hz and 120hz/240hz. Hertz is the measurement of frequencies or cycles per second. 120 and 240 are divisable by 24 which is used as frames per second in filmaking. 60hz tv's use 3:2 processing to achieve the conversion. The higher Hz is supposed to eliminate judder and make fast moving broadcast pictures smoother. Depending on where you live, you can find 120hz HDTV's on sale for the same price as a 60hz. Fry's electronics is having a killer sale on TV's this week. I just got a KDL46v5100 for $1199. They also had some the 240hz models for the price of the 120hz's.
