Well...Instead of building one myself, as I do not have a lot of experience and do not really know the compatibility of the PC component, I want to go straight with a prebuilt PC. But I have had a nightmare with pre-built PC, and I do not know which company is trustworthy or has high or good reputation, I hope you guys, experts or those who have had certain experience with PC or PC companies, could give me a piece of advice or suggestion. As in my previous post, Dell is garbage like bugkiller said, bad customer service, and gave me a turnaround and I had to stay on the phone for more than 3 hours yesterday and nobody was able to help. Besides, I decided to return it but since they emphasize that the PC does not have any problem, they take $270 off from the refund as 15% restocking fee. I decided to do that and promise or swear that I am not gonna buy any PC or even laptop from Dell again. But I still need a PC, which gives efficient speed for my projects either from school or at work. Hence, I have made a decision to go for Newegg, Ibuypower, or CyberPowerPC. I am not sure if they are reliable. So I hope you guys could help me out. Please, I hope the mods or admins do not delete my post as this is really important, and that could be a great help to me. I really appreciate it. Problem from Dell: Got a PC desktop studioxp, brand new, but after just setting up the account for window sign in, the second time boot up, it seems to take forever, and the first time boot up is much slower already, far a lot slower than my old desktop athlon 64 3000. The boot up screen turns black or every ten boot, there is certain a frozen issue in one of them. My PC CPU is Core-i 7 940, which is 29.6hz with 6 triple ram and has decent top radeon graphic card. I called them, and they just transferred me back and forth, which took about like 3 hours and then finally one of the guys told me to update the window, which I did and then the problem still persists and the next morning before going to work, called them again, they told me that they only have warranty for the hardware, not software, if I wanna get it fixed, I have to buy the software warranty, which is about $50 per month. I think it is a rip-off. So pissed off that demanded a return, they still claimed that no problem with their desktop and then told me to wait for 20 - 30 for the package or label to be sent to my house and then return the whole thing for them but 15% RESTOCKING FEE is unavoidable, which is $270.
ive never had that type of problem with dells, but i would be pissed too if i just got a core i7 and it didnt work. most, if not everyone, here would suggest you build a pc since its easier than it looks and you save lots of money, not to mention quality parts. but if you are really set on a prebuilt, then tell us more info. what is your budget? what is this computer going to be used for (gaming, 3D rendering, movies, web browsing, etc). have you thought about buying PC's from sony, asus, or other manufactures? newegg i know is reliable for sure. CyberPower and Ibuypower, i have heard are reliable and you are able to have more freedom on which parts to pick, but i personally have never purchased from them.
I've heard of LOTS of problems with Ibuypower and Cyberpower, they tend to cheap out on components they shouldn't. Jinkazuya: The problem with your PC sounds like a faulty HDD, not software. Tell them you think such and procee from there.
sammorris. U are very knowledgeable. But Dell won't admit that this is their fault. Considering their computer knowledge, they should have known this earlier already. Instead of telling me doing crap and saying taking one minute to boot up a PC is normal and refused to help me and forced me to buy warranty from the software. One man told me this and another person told me a different story. Besides, a lot of people are stating that their PC cannot be overclocked and you got most of the crappy OEM parts. DO you guys know any body that helps build a reliable PC and charge you a reasonable price?
I would have to say Dell to be honest, that's the manufacturer I hear the least issues with, as yes, they are not overclockable, but they use better components than most.
Agreed, Dell is one of the best OEMs (sadly). Alienware is a bit nicer, but you pay through the nose. It is very easy to build a PC, and if you have a price range, then just post it here and you will have a dozen people arguing about the best parts for your price. We know the compatability...so you don't have to! [EDIT] Anyone had experience with this "Digital Storm" company that advertises all over afterdawn?
