Ok so I have a new laptop, its a Gateway P-7805U. I just bought a second hard drive and installed it. I want to install windows XP on the second hard drive then install a bootloader so I can switch between Xp and Vista(which is installed now). when I go to install windows XP on the second drive. You cant even get past the part where it installs the pre drivers b/c it gives you the blue screen of death. From what I have read you need to find some kind of Sata drivers or something and use this program to put those files on the windows XP cd so it loads the drivers where it will then detect your Sata HD but I have no idea where to find or what to find these drivers. If anyone has any help it would be appreciated.

    Hi Killa024!

Your computer manufacturer should be able to provide the SATA drivers required on their website.

Notice the PRESS F6 TO INSTALL 3RD PARTY DRIVERS at the very start of the install process? - its expecting to find the files on a floppy disk or USB stick - you cannot put the files on to a windows CD (its read-only), or change the CD in the drive during setup...

Hope some of that helps or points you in the right direction...!

    Regards
    Nick

moved to correct forum. in the bios change the sata to ide then should be able to load xp without needing to load sata driver at f6 prompt. done that a number of times with no problem.
