I bought a new Laptop about a month ago and my son was looking at it yesterday and said that I had 72 processes running on it and should only really have about 40 running, he said he thinks I possibly may have spyware in my pc as they rename themselves to avoid detection. As computer literate as I am I dont know a lot about the workings etc so dont want to start deleting and disabling things that may slow down my pc or make it stop working, I have all the usual Programs running like Anti-Spyware,AVG,Avast,Microsoft Office,VLC,Smart Defrag,Nero and Adobe plus a few others, I am using an Acer Aspire 5735Z which has a lot of Acer bumf that came with it so they will be running too but it seems to be running ok,I am a bit concerned and would like to prevent rather than cure it so can anyone suggest any programs or solutions how to clean it out a bit or check the processes to make sure that they are not Spyware or something more damaging. As I mentioned I am a bit clueless when it comes to things like this so any step by step or idiot guides would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance for any answers.

It's probably not spyware...it's just the crap that Acer ships with all it's systems. Also, you seem to have three virus scanners running; but none of them are any good. Download malwarebytes and do a scan if you are worried about spyware. Also, goto administrative tools>services, you will see many useless apps in there set to start with windows. I know nero & some adobe products both come with garbage that starts on it's own, plus there are lots of windows services that you probably are not using.
