Is SATA II compatible with this laptop?

    sata I is 1.5GBps sata II has 3.0GBps possible throughput, i dont know any other diff. off the top of my head. and sata II will downgrade its speed to I if it has no other option. so whatever sata hard drive you choose should be compatible. sometimes drives have a jumper, they might need to be set to a different setting than what came from the factory.

    WIKIPEDIA - Given the importance of backward compatibility between SATA 1.5 Gbit/s controllers and SATA 3 Gbit/s devices, SATA 3 Gbit/s autonegotiation sequence is designed to fall back to SATA 1.5 Gbit/s speed when in communication with such devices. In practice, some older SATA controllers do not properly implement SATA speed negotiation.
