Dear guys: I am going to buy a console between Xbox and PS2. I would like to buy Xbox but I was told that it has less games, and encouraged me to get a PS2 which has more games. Is there any suggestion?

the xbox can do alot more than the PS2 can, allthough the PS2 is still a good gaming system. I've had both for over a year now and my PS2 just collects dust, i get much more use from the xbox.

Yeah the only thing i use my PS2 for is madden.

If your gonna mod go with the xbox definitely. If your not modding it then STILL go with xbox.

But you are aware you are asking this in the xbox forum right? can anyone smell bias? sniff sniff

I have both and prefer the xbox by far. Another thing to take into consideration for me is take a look in both the xbox and PS2 forums. It seems to me the only probs that dont get solved on the xbox are the ones where people get sick of the same questions and dont bother replying. Whereas the PS2 seems to have many more unsolveable problems leaving you at the hands of sony and pockets emptying.
My PS2 is currently f@#*&d nobody seems to be able to help (although many to be fair have tried) and sony want tooooo much to repair it. To be honest though my kid (age 5) misses it a lot more than me.

The PS2 has been out alot longer, so naturally it has more games available. But in my opinion, alot of them aren't that good. This also applies with the XBOX of course. It's really a matter of opinion and what games you like to play..

If you like RPGs, get PS2. If you like everything else, get XBOX.

A RPG is a role playing game, its kind of like a adventure game, but with much more stuff.

    My two cents...

I recently to a dive into Xbox. I was considering PS2... "It has the most games". Well, this is true. I think I saw that the PS2 has nearly 800 games, while Xbox had around half that.

As far as the most popular games go, they seem to be fairly even to me... some PS2 exclusives, some Xbox exclusives, but most are on both.

Besides, do you REALLY think you'll play 800 different games? My attention span is quite short, but I'll never get through even 400 games. And, as already pointed out, many of the games for each are probably not worth the disc they're pressed on. I bet there are only 60-100 games for each platform that most people would consider worth owning. That would mean 300 Xbox games are probably garbage and 700 PS2 games are garbage.

So, unless you're addicted to a PS2 franchise series, why bother with PS2? I'm hooked on Mario Brothers, so I had to get a Game Cube, but, since getting the Xbox, the GC gets ignored!

I also agree with the earlier posters who mentioned the more vibrant forums for Xbox.

    Good luck!
