    Hi All

I have a sony DVD Burner (around 3 months old) and have just started having a problem with it yesterday.

When I go to burn an xbox 360 game, its ready to burn, and I put a dual layer +R DVD in the tray for burning, the programs (imgburn and nero) won't register that I have put a dual layer disc in. It registers that I have put a disc in, because windows automatic message says I have just inserted a blank cd. To be more specific, when using imgburn (which is what I usually use for games) it says no devices found. (therefore, not picking up disc inserted)

It is definitely a Dual layer burner, and I am definitely using the correct DVDs, as I have been burning x box games for the past 3 months with it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Can you post the model number and firmware version of your drive?
Also what is the make and MID of the discs you're using?

The drive is a Sony DRU-840A, I tried to update the firmware today and the internet said there isnt any available updates for it. How do I check what firmware it is using?

The discs I have been trying are TDK and Vertabin (I have never had any problems with Vertabins)

this is the log I get when using imgburn

    Initialising SPTI
    Searching for SCSI/ ATAPI Devices...
    CreateFile Failed! - Device: "\\.\CdRom0' (D:)
Reason: The maximum number of secrets that may be stored in a single system has been exceeded
Errors were encountered when trying to access drive
This drive will not be visible in the program
    No Devices Detected!
