I do not understand I have the proper ports fowarded im using a recommended client, but I only get an average download speed of 40kb.Every forum i have read talks about an average speed of 1mb how in the world do you get speeds that fast.
Basically, you're limited to whatever (speed) plan you have with your ISP and whether you're on Cable or DSL. There are a few thing's you can do to enhance your speed's; port forward a router, static ip address if needed with router, port used, setting upload speed to around 80%, selecting torrent's with more seed's than peer's, joining a private site. Not sure I understand, your 5 Mb translate's to 640 kB, which most client's show in so that was your max then. Are you using a router and is it port forwarded, check your modem for a firerwall too, some need forwarding, check for it here, router too: http://www.portforward.com/english/route...routerindex.htm Any other firewall (is client an exception), what client, port, is upload set (80% is around 67-70 kB), UPnP disabled if you use a router, do you need a static ip (only if you use a router)? Protocol Encryption if your client support's it, green NAT light in client?
The client is bitcomet, the port is fowarded through the firewall udp and tcp, I know thats right and i have upnp turned on, and thank you again. Does that help diagnose im using port 50000 which is between the recommended 49152-65354 range

Try With UPnP off, what light is showing in BitComet for your connection, green? I'm in the middle of a reformat so I can't check but one of these version's should show good speed: http://distribution.openoffice.org/p2p/ 3.1 was good, let it run for 15 minute's and use one with lot's of seed's and fewwer peer's.
This little trick helped me get more peers to connect to download, when using uTorrent
have you ever notice that when you download a torrent that has 3000 seeders, and 5000 leechers your speed just doesn't go to that 1.5 MB connection you have.
Well this trick isn't new but it helps.
1. you get uTorret
2. Go to Options, then preferences
3. On the left hand side click bandwidth 4. Now next to Global Maximum Number Of Connections, there is a box. Change that number to at least 500
5. Now next to Maximum Number of Connected Peers Per Torrent, there is a box. change that to at least 300
6. then hit apply
What you just did will help you connect to those seeders that you could not get connected to.
